Skills 4 Success - planning a journey

Autism Bedfordshire are running a course over six weeks for young people aged 16-19 with lower level support needs. The course will help to develop their confidence and skills in travelling and planning a journey.

The course will consist of a learning session in the morning, followed by an afternoon activity to be able to apply skills and learning from the morning sessions.

The morning learning may include using public transport, planning a journey, booking tickets online, and social skills in communicating with the public (such as staff at the train station front desk).

The afternoon activities range depending on the young people's interests, but could include golf, meals out, arcades, park walks, sports, cinema or gaming afternoons. The skills of planning the journey and using transport will then be incorporated to be able to get there!

Date: Sundays 24th April, 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th May 2022

Time: 10.00am - 2.00pm/3.30pm

Venue: Families United Network, Unit 5, Britannia Estate, Leagrave Road, Luton LU3 1RJ

Cost: £20 per week (£120 in total) + any costs for the afternoon activities

Please contact Amy on amy.gavin-birch@autismbeds.org or call 07880 387 255 if you'd like to book.

Your young person can meet with the team virtually in advance of the sessions to help reduce anxiety on the day. Social Stories and photos of the venue are also available if your young person will benefit from these.
