LB Mencap at the Rushmere parkrun

A big THANK YOU from everyone at Leighton Buzzard Mencap to all our members and friends who supported our participation in the Rushmere parkrun earlier this morning. We wanted to raise awareness of our Society and to publicise the work we do by joining in a very popular event, both as helpers and runners.

About 25 people took part in the run, sporting bright red LB Mencap t-shirts, while others helped by acting as marshals or assisting with timekeeping. Some of our runners raised money for us through friends sponsoring their efforts, reaching a over £700!

We would also like to thank the people at parkrun who organise the event every week for all their help in facilitating and encouraging our participation. The event is fun for all ages and abilities, with one of our younger “runners” in a buggy, and we are hoping to have further LB Mencap mornings there in the future.
